Eight years in the making, RUTH’S DREAM is the realization of artist Ruth Litoff’s final project, curated by her surviving sister Hope. Ruth’s goal was to beautify Bellevue in return for the compassion and care she received there.
IN RUTH’S WORDS...
“The intention of this show is to create a sanctuary of flowers and light in an inspiring environment for the people of this city; to provide a respite from the noise and speed of the streets, a moment to stroll in a garden of luminosity, and an opportunity to slow down and experience vitality, peace and joy. This sunlit and healing space at Bellevue Hospital is the perfect greenhouse for my flowers.
The flowers in this series were photographed on the streets of Manhattan growing wild and unattended. Sizzling reds, oranges, deep violets, indigos, and pink daisies drawing New Yorkers and visitors into a magical new world. I feel it’s essential for my art to be accessible to everyone just as the subjects were in nature.”
Hope thanks NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, Duggal Visual Solutions, and The Fund for NYC Health + Hospitals for helping to make RUTH’S DREAM possible.
